Summer Road Resurfacing - Latest Information Here

The annual summer road re-surfacing programme to improve a number of routes across Reading for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists and motorcyclists is due to began on Monday July 26.

These works are scheduled to last for a period of six weeks and have again been timed to coincide as near as possible to the school summer holidays to minimise disruption.

Advance warning signs will be in place on roads prior to resurfacing work starting and notification letters will be delivered to residents and businesses affected. Every effort will be made for access to properties and businesses to be maintained and work was suspended for the duration of the Reading Festival.

The full list of roads scheduled for resurfacing are below. We will update this list on a daily basis from when the works begin on April 26 with the latest information of where works are taking place, so please return to this page to get the very latest news.

The Council apologises for any inconvenience or disruption the carriageway improvement works may cause and will ensure every effort is made to keep this to a minimum.

-Bath Road from Burghfield Road to Borough Boundary - Completed
-Peppard Road - Prospect Street to Surley Row  - Completed
-Peppard Road - Courtenay Drive to Kidmore End Road  - Completed; repainting of road markings in progress
-Basingstoke Road - Whitley Street to Elgar Road South -  Completed
-Basingstoke Road - Manor Farm Road to Hartland Road  - Completed
-Basingstoke Road - Long Barn Lane to Buckland Road - Completed
-Chatham Street - IDR roundabout to Bedford Road - Completed; repainting of road markings in progress
- Vastern Road / Kings Meadow Road roundabout - Completed.
- A33 Rose Kiln Lane - North and south bound approaches - Work completed apart from road markings.  
-Berkeley Avenue - Bath Road to Baydon Drive - Work to begin on Tuesday Aug 31 until end of Fri Sep 3. Working hours 9.30am to 5pm.
-Duke Street / IDR junction - Work to begin Tuesday Aug 31st to Saturday Sep 4 inclusive, 7.30pm to 5am only. Some road closures necessary. Please follow diversions.
-Grovelands Road (small section between Water Road and Waverley Road) - Work starts today (Thursday 2 Sept); due to be completed tomorrow (Friday 3 Sept). Working hours 9.30am to 3.30pm.
-Hartland Road - Basingstoke Road to Northumberland Avenue - Completed
-Hartland Road - Northumberland Avenue to Whitley Wood Road - Completed
-Whitley Wood Road - Shinfield Road to Hartland Road - Completed
