Consumer Advice Service

Advice and support for consumers in Reading Borough is now provided by Consumer Direct. Consumer Direct is a telephone and online consumer advice service, which is supported by local authorities in the South East Region and by the Office of Fair Trading.
They offer help and advice to all consumers in Reading (regardless of age, gender, social background or ethnic group) who are buying or have bought goods or services. The advice and information they give is free and you can call as many times as you need to.
Consumer Direct provides clear, practical advice to help consumers sort out problems and disagreements with suppliers of goods or services. From overcharging to faulty goods, and dodgy workmanship to reporting dishonest traders and scams, Consumer Directs’ trained advisers are ready to offer individual solutions for individual problems.

If you feel you need to meet face to face with a Consumer Advisor, Reading Borough still offers advice to personal callers at the Civic offices. Opening times are Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm.
