Personal Assistants

Many older people and adults with care and support needs (because illness or disability) prefer to directly employ their own carers - known as Personal Assistants.

The work is varied - depending on the needs of the person it may involve providing: 

  • personal care (help with washing, dressing etc.)
  • help with meals
  • help with household tasks and errands
  • support to get out and about to take part in activities

You don't need any special qualifications for this role. If you like working with people, have a calm, flexible approach and good communication skills this could be the job for you.
