Join us for our first Fun Palace held across each of our libraries.   The Fun Palace manifesto: we believe in the genius in everyone, in everyone an artist and everyone a scientist, and that creativity in community can change the world for the better. Local community groups and individuals will be sharing their interests and skills.  Take part in lots of fun FREE activities for ALL ages from arts and crafts to science and technology.

Central Library

  • All Day - Create a Masterpiece
    Help us fill our Exhibition Area with works of art created by you on the day.
  • 11 -12pm Learn how to make Balloon Animals 
  • 10-2pm Create a Garden for the Library 
    Help us create out very own library garden.  We will be crocheting, knitting and making paper flowers to turn our bookshelves into flower beds!  No experience necessary.  
  • 11.30 & 2.30 Duck Race
    Join us for a rubber duck race in the Holybrook that flows under the library.  Will you choose the winning duck? Duck registration starts 30mins before the race.

Battle Library 10-3pm

  • Steampunk Takeover!
    Join us for talks, tea duelling and general steampunky madness.  There will be talks on all things Steampunk from how to put together an outfit to steampunk music, an exhibition of steampunk items and how to make your very own Steampunk Goggles.  Try your hand at Tea Duelling - will your biscuit prevail?

Caversham Library 10-3pm

  • Local crafters from our Sit and Stitch Group offer you the opportunity to view their work, try your hand at something new and to make something!  Suitable for adults and children.
  • Board Game Bonanza  - Never be Bored again! - Come and experience the fun of Board Games.  Learn new games.  Have fun!  Suitable for adults and children.

Palmer Park Library 10-1pm

  • Make a Giant Collage for the Library

Southcote Library 10-12pm

  • Join us for a fun filled morning of Christmas card making, knitting squares for a blanket for Buscot Ward,mask making, wood carving, shape rubbing, junk art giant robot making and bike maintenance.

Tilehurst Library 10-3pm

  • Come along a take part in a day filled with fun activities for all the family.

Whitley Library 10-1pm

  • Help us decorate and name our Library Dragon.
