Defending Reading: 900 years of attack and defence 871 - 1990 - Mike Cooper - 14 march

Battle Library

7pm

Mike Cooper, whose work on air raids in WW2 covered new ground for Reading, looks at themes in the military and civil defence of Reading from the Vikings to terrorist threats.  What do we know about Reading Castle? What were the Royalist fortifications like during the Siege of 1643?  How did local people respond to the threat of French invasion and rural riots?   Mike's talk will also be the subject of a new booklet to be published in 2018.

Tickets available at Central and Battle Libraries, £4 (£3 to library members)

Please note that we do not book tickets in advance of payment. Tickets can only be purchased online or in person. All tickets sold on the day of the event will be on a first-come-first-served basis.
