Infection Control

Target Group:

Social care staff in all care settings who need an awareness of infection control best practice.

Course Aims:

To gain awareness and a working knowledge of infection control and measures to prevent cross-infection.

Course Outcomes:

By the end of the course learners will have an understanding of:

  • Causes and spread of infection
  • How infection is spread
  • Different types of infection and their symptoms
  • The impact of an outbreak of infection on the organisation
  • Correct use of PPE (personal protective equipment)
  • Hand washing technique
  • Legislation

Completion of this course provides knowledge that can be used towards QCF units ICO1 and ICO2.
