Business Rates
The Business Rates/Non-Domestic Rates collected across Britain are paid into a central pool and redistributed. Reading Borough Council’s share of redistributed rate income, together with income from its Council tax payers, revenue support grant provided by the Government and certain other sums, is used to pay for the services provided by your authority and those of the Thames Valley Police Authority and the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Reading Borough Council also includes provision towards the costs of the Thames Valley Magistrates’ Court Committee and the Thames Region of the Environment Agency.
