Revised Battle Hospital Planning Brief now available

The revised planning brief, which was approved by the Council's Cabinet meeting on 18^th April 2005 has now been published and is available to view or download from the Council's website, see link at the bottom of this page and hard copies are also available to purchase at a price of £10. The accompanying Sustainability Appraisal of the brief is also available for the same price or you can view the report (PDF) at the bottom of this page.

The brief provides the context for the planning applications which have now been submitted. The Council has set out its intention for the site to be suitable for a number of uses including a superstore, housing, a new civic space and short-stay parking area, public open space and a medical centre.

Planning Applications received

We have now received two planning applications covering different parts of the Battle Hospital site. One application is for a foodstore, unit shops, drive-through restaurant, petrol filling station, 65 residential units, car parking, creation of public space. landscaping, access and associated highway works. The other application is for 435 dwellings and a primary healthcare facility with associated car parking, open space, landscaping and new access arrangements.
