The Council carries out grass cutting, senior citizen grass & hedge cutting, cuts some hedges on highway verges and public land, maintains roadside shrub and flower beds, and trees.
Grass Cutting
We are working towards the Council's strategic aims to ensure that Reading is a clean and green place to live and work by looking after the grounds on public highways and associated land. We also support Reading's entry into Britain in Bloom. See the Related Information box above and to the right for a link to the Reading in Bloom web page.
We cut the grass verges and open public land in the Borough on a regular basis (weather permitting). For grass cutting in the Parks, see the link to Parks and Open Spaces in the Related Information box above and to the right.
If you have any comments or feedback for us regarding grass cutting, please contact us using the telephone number, or the form, in the Contact This Service box above and to the right.
Ornamental Areas
We look after roadside shrub & flower beds and some hedges.
RBC Housing Tenant Gardens
If you are a council tenant, are elderly or disabled and unable to look after your garden, and cannot get a relative or neighbour to look after it for you, contact your Housing Officer about the garden maintenence service.
Roundabout Sponsorship
We are seeking more sponsors for the roundabouts in the Borough, if you wish to discuss this opportunity please contact us using the telephone number in the Contact This Service box above and to the right.
Trees
The Tree Gang is responsible for maintaining 6,000 trees, 365 days a year, and new planting on the highway. We also look after 12,000 other trees for Parks, Housing, & Cemetery services and Schools.
We work closely with our colleagues in Planning Services to survey trees and work on Tree Preservation Orders (TPO's), see the Related Information box above and to the right for a link to the TPO web pages.
We also carry out safety inspections on trees for the Council and the general public, please contact us on the number above for further details.
If you need to report a dangerous tree or fallen branch please call using the telephone number in the Contact This Service box above and to the right, or for non urgent enquiries please use the link in the same box to find a form.
