Health and Safety at Work

Environmental Health staff based within the Consumer Protection Division are responsible for the enforcement of health and safety in a range of non-manufacturing premises such as: retail shops, offices, warehouses, tyre and exhaust premises, restaurants, hotels, hairdressers, cinemas and other places of entertainment.
The Health and Safety Executive is responsible for higher risk premises such a manufacturers and construction and demolition sites. For more information see the HSE website (link can be found below).

We seek to ensure that all employers and self-employed persons understand their responsibilities and comply with the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act and related regulations and guidance. Our work covers the following:
