The online payment service is available 24 hours a day , 7 days a week (except 6.00pm-6.30pm on weekdays), and uses the highest standards of security to ensure it is safe and secure to use.

Please note that from 1st January 2011 there will be a 1.52% charge made for using your credit card. There is no charge when paying by debit card.

You can pay for the following with your debit or credit card by using the Make a Payment link found in the Related Information box.

  • Business Rates
  • Council Tax
  • Housing or garage rent
  • Invoices

Please note that the online payments system will NOT be available between 6:00 - 6.30pm each day for processing of payments.

Parking Fines

You can also pay a parking fine with your debit or credit card by using the Pay a Parking Fine link found in the Related Information box.

Guidance Notes

Reading Borough Council accepts Visa, MasterCard,  Delta, Electron and Solo cards. Payment requests using this system are subject to Authorisation and clearance time-scales. It should never take more than 24 hours for your payment to be received and posted to us. However if you make a payment over £1000, we may need Authorisation from your card issuer.

To use our Online Payment Services please have to hand the debit or credit card you intend to use and the account number for the bill you wish to pay. Please note that from 1st January 2011 there will be a 1.52% charge made for using your credit card.

Your account number can be found on:

  • Your last bill for Council Tax and Business Rates
  • Your last increase letter or payment Card for rents
  • Your invoice/correspondence from the payments section
If you cannot find your account number, contact the relevant department during office hours (9:00am – 5:00pm, Monday to Friday)
