Sites and Detailed Policies Document and Proposals Map

The Sites and Detailed Policies Document (SDPD) sets out detailed policies for use in decisions on planning applications and identify sites for development, protection and for the application of specific policies. The Proposals Map shows those designations and sites on an Ordnance Survey-based map.

The SDPD is the result of combining the Development Management Document (DMD) and Site Allocations Document (SAD), which were previously consulted on separately, into a single document to save resources. The SAD and DMD were subject to consultation in October 2008, and a further consultation on some additional sites was carried out in October 2009. A Pre-Submission Draft SDPD, along with a Draft Submission Proposals Map was consulted on in February 2010. A Revised Pre-Submission Draft SDPD, incorporating a number of changes from the 2010 version, was published for consultation in February 2011, along with a Revised Draft Submission Proposals Map. Consultation ended on 4 April 2011.

The SDPD and Proposals Map were submitted to the Secretary of State on 15 July 2011. An independent Inspector is currently carrying out an Examination into the documents. This will determine whether the documents are 'sound' and can be adopted. Details of the Examination are available on the 'Examination into the Sites and Detailed Policies Document' page.

Hard copies of the SDPD, Proposals Map and Statement of Public Participation Undertaken during 2011 are available to view in Reading Borough libraries during normal opening hours, and in the Reception of the Civic Offices between 9 am and 5 pm on weekdays (please provide advance notice to the LDF Team, so that the information can be ready). Also available to view in the same places is a CD containing all of the representations on the Pre-Submission stages, and all of the other background evidence for the SDPD and Proposals Map.
