Where in South Reading

The Neighbourhood Regeneration Team work in three areas of South Reading, we work with local people and service providers to bring about improvements to the local community in North Whitley, Central Whitley and Whitley Wood.

Things we are working on

North Whitley
• Housing Estate Improvements - improve local estate
• Community Engagement - listening to the needs of local people
• Anti Social Behaviour - drugs and drink related

Central Whitley
• Access to Employment - adult learning, employment and other agency opportunities
• Open Spaces - parks, open spaces and local community areas
• Facilities - social amenities

Whitley Wood
• Community Engagement - listening to the needs of local people
• Anti Social Behaviour – access to mobile police unit, joint working with Neighbourhood Action Group.
• Open Spaces – Making the most of our parks and green spaces
• Community Facilities – Improving the local community centre

Working with Local People

Listening to you
The results of the neighbourhood survey completed by local people have helped plan activity that aims to make the lives of those living in South Reading even better. The team is always keen to work with local people to find out what those living in the area want improved or changed, so please get in touch.

Join a Community Group
The teams meet with local service providers every 2 months and local people are encouraged to get involved. There are also a community group’s local people run which support local change and people are welcome to join. If you are interested in joining a group already set up or starting your own community group please call your local team who can help get you started.
