The Warden’s role is to help:
- Reduce crime and the fear of crime by being a physical presence on patrol. They watch out for known offenders and report repeat offenders to the appropriate agencies.
- Care for the environment by reporting fly tipping, fly posting, graffiti and abandoned vehicles.
- Reduce incidents of anti-social behaviour.
- Deter drug dealing by being a physical presence and reporting dealers to the police. They also sign-post drug users to relevant drug support agencies, if they want assistance.
They also:
- Work with a variety of youth projects and schools interacting with young people, using diversionary tactics to prevent future criminal behaviour.
- Spend time with the elderly and vulnerable with the view to supporting the community and help to promote social inclusion for all so the community can help itself.
