Funding Services
Provides support and advice to Voluntary and Community Organisations (VCOs) working in, and for the benefit of the residents, of the Borough of Reading.
The Voluntary Sector Support Unit’s main role is to run the Council’s grants to voluntary and community organisations decision-making process. They also manage two community halls that can be used by VCOs as well as the community in general, for example, for meetings, social events or private functions.
The Funding Advice Team is on hand to assist voluntary and community organisations to find potential external funding opportunities, for example, National Lottery, Charitable Trusts & local funding programmes, for new or ongoing projects. They are also able to help with many other aspects of fundraising, for example, developing a fundraising strategy and understanding and completing application forms to funding bodies. They also organise a variety of awareness events in the town for the benefit of VCOs.
