Guidance for Licensing Act
This document is intended to offer guidance to holders of licences or certificates or those who have given notice of temporary events. It provides the basic information for applicants to help make a successful application and general guidance to keep the operations of the business, club, organisation or event within the law.
Reading Borough Council has a duty to supply guidance for applicants. However, by reading the Statement of Licensing Policy, applicants should understand how Reading Borough Council will administer the licences and authorisations and what Reading Borough Council considers as important. The licensing policy statement should be used as guidance when completing the operating schedule.
Applications can be made to Reading Borough Council from 7th February 2005 (the first appointed day) to 6th August. The newly granted licences will not take effect until the second appointed day (November 2005). For the period of time between the first and second appointed days the old system of public entertainment licences, cinema licences, theatre licences, late night refreshment house licences, and justices licences will run in parallel with the new regime.
