Reporting a Crime or Emergency Incident

Within Reading Borough Council, a crime or an emergency should always be reported to Thames Valley Police on the following contact numbers:

In an emergency

Always call 999 in an emergency. It is an emergency when:

  • a crime is being committed
  • there is a risk of injury
  • there is a risk of serious damage to property

Non-emergencies

  • Use this number to anonymously give information about crime to the Crimestoppers charity. You do not have to give your name, sign any kind of statement or appear in court.

  • abandoned vehicles
  • noise nuisance
  • fly tipping
  • stray dogs
  • animals killed on the road by a vehicle (‘road kill’) if it is not causing an obstruction.
