Having worked in Reading since 1988 and lived in Caversham since 1991, I was first elected as a Councillor for Peppard Ward in 2004.

The following are some of the issues that I think are important and some of the areas in which I have been involved.

Key interests include:

Education and Youth Services - I have taken an active role campaigning for changes to the Primary and Secondary Schools Admissions processes. I am a Governor at Micklands Primary School, taught at Reading College and have worked with a number of local sports clubs to recruit young members. I am Conservative Group Spokesman on Education and Chairman of the Education and Children’s Services Scrutiny Panel.

Crime Prevention and Protection of our law-abiding citizens is an area of considerable local concern. I have worked closely with the Caversham police team, resulting in a much higher police presence, a Dispersal Order in 2005 and a focus on the reduction of graffiti and anti-social behaviour. In addition to regular attendance of the Safer Reading and Safer Caversham Forums, I am also a member of the North Caversham Neighbourhood Action Group.

Services for the elderly - Peppard Ward has one of the older age profiles in Reading. Protection of local amenities and provision of good public transport, safe crossings, health and social services are vital. I worked closely with Age Concern to start the 50 Plus+ meetings at St Barnabas Hall and develop the Caversham Active Retirement Club.

I shall continue to address these wider issues while working on the things my constituents tell me are important on a day-to-day basis, such as building development, traffic, transport and care of our environment.

Whatever your political affiliations, I welcome contact from all of my constituents.
