I have lived in Reading for the last 25 years and have been a Reading Borough Councillor for the last 15 years. I have represented Katesgrove Ward since 2003.

During my time on the Council I have been a member of committees and scrutiny panels covering most of the areas dealt with by the Council but my primary interest has always been Planning. To this end I have been a member of the Planning Committee for most of the time I have been on the Council and have been Lead Member for Planning and Transport and Chair and Vice-Chair of the Planning Committee. At present in addition to being on this committee I am a member of the Culture and Sport Scrutiny Panel and the Arts Forum.

For the Municipal Year 2004-2005 I was privileged to be Mayor of Reading and during a memorable year, amongst many other things, was proud to give assembly to every primary school in Reading, open the refurbished Forbury Gardens, visit San Francisco Libre in Nicaragua on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the twinning of our two towns, raise funds for hurricane relief in Grenada and establish links with Beruwala in Sri Lanka following the devastation caused by the Boxing Day tsunami.

I am a member and/or regular attendee at a number of outside bodies including the Katesgrove Residents’ Association; Katesgrove and Minster Safer Communities Forum; Friends of Reading Museum; the Museum Education Advisory Group; Caversham and District Residents’ Association and Caversham Horticultural Society. I have been a governor at Caversham Primary School since 1990.

I am married with three teenage children and am employed as a primary school teacher. My interests outside of the Council include amateur theatre, automobiles, gardening and reading.
