After School Care
After school childcare is usually provided by childminders or by After School Clubs.
After School Clubs are run by the Early Years and Extended Schools Service of Reading Borough Council as well as private and voluntary groups and some schools. They run outside of the normal school hours and are usually run by a team of staff, led by a Play Leader who must hold a Level 3 childcare qualification. All sites are OFSTED registered and follow their requirements. Activities are planned by the play leader on a weekly basis and are designed to help children learn, play and relax with their friends. Playworkers will often pick children up from other local schools.
