Household Waste Recycling Centre

Reading residents can take their waste from the property they live in to the Smallmead Household Waste Recycling Centre free of charge. Residents may only dispose of their own waste.  The centre has been developed by the re3 partnership of Bracknell Forest, Reading and Wokingham Borough Councils working with Waste Recycling Group.

Important Changes to the Site from 1st December 2009

The changes include:

• A 1.95m height barrier
• New rules for residents wishing to bring a van or a trailer to the site
• A new Waste Acceptance Policy – new rules on the disposal of certain types of waste at the site

Opening times

Open 7 days a week

08:00 - 20:00 - 1 April - 30 September

08:00 - 18:00 - 1 October - 31 March

Closed - Christmas Day

Bank Holidays - please note, residents are unable to take vehicles above 1.95m (6ft 4") or trailers longer than 1.83m (6ft) to the site on Bank Holidays.

Easter 2010.  If you wish to take a vehicle above 1.95m (6ft 4") or a trailer longer than 1.83m (6ft) to the site on Saturday April 3 or Tuesday April 6 you must pre-book by calling re3 on 0800 9883023 by Thursday April 1.  Please book early as there are limited spaces available.
