Special Shopping Evening
Retailers in Reading will extend a warm welcome to the elderly and disabled during a special Christmas shopping evening in the town centre on Monday 3 December.
The festive shopping evening, organised by Reading Borough Council in partnership with Reading UK CIC, The Oracle and The British Red Cross aims to help make shopping an easy and enjoyable experience for elderly and disabled people.
Every year the Reading Council invites town centre retailers to put on special offers, discounts, give-aways, refreshments and entertainment throughout the evening.
Shoppers will also be treated to an evening of festive entertainment to help visitors get into the festive spirit.
Wheelchairs will be available for Reading people to use on the night, which have been kindly donated by the Reading branch of the Red Cross and The Oracle. Volunteers from the Red Cross will be around during the Christmas shopping evening to help.
In some circumstances the Council can offer special parking and a helper to assist with shopping, for more information contact (0118) 937 2771.
Anyone who would like to go along to the Christmas shopping evening may wish to book the Readibus service on (0118) 931 0000.
A leaflet giving details of the participating stores and activities, and where to see the entertainment, will be available on the evening or by calling (0118) 937 2771.
