Graffiti Removal

Almost all graffiti, especially tagging, looks awful, is criminal damage, increases fear of crime, and can be very distressing and expensive for the victims.
The Council's graffiti removal service regularly cleans road signs and street furniture etc. and offers a removal service for property owners and occupiers. We are working with some of the bigger victims such as the Utilities to remove this blight from the town.
The council's anti-graffiti team aims to keep public buildings, highways and signs free of graffiti & flyposting. The specially equipped 'state-of-the-art' graffiti vans make use of high-pressure sprays, various paints and environment-friendly chemicals to remove graffiti from the street or buildings. This service is in most cases provided free of charge and is usually carried out within 5 working days of notification.
We take particularly swift action to tackle the crime of racist or offensive graffiti, clearing this free of charge within one working day from notification.
You can help us to keep Your Reading Clean by informing us of where graffiti is using the freephone number in the Contact this Service box above and to the right.
We will remove tags (up to 1 sq.m) visible from the road on residential property for no charge. For larger tags, small businesses, and Housing Association property we will remove graffiti for the cost of materials. For larger businesses will remove graffiti for a commercial charge. Some conditions apply to all these services. Please contact us for futher advice or to arrange a free quotation.
We are also actively working within local communities to help tackle this anti-social behaviour, and can now supply your local Community Group or Resident's Association with a special 'Community Kit' to help you tackle unwanted graffiti. Please call us on the freephone number in the Contact this Service box above and to the right, for details. (Before we we can supply a kit, we will need to give you some basic training, and award you a certificate of competence, for your own safety).
