Every Child Matters - Change for children and Young People Children is a new approach to the well-being of children and young people from birth to age 19.

The Government’s aim is for every child, whatever their background or circumstances, to have the support they need to: 

  • Be healthy 
  • Stay safe 
  • Enjoy and achieve 
  • Make a positive contribution 
  • Achieve economic well-being

To make sure that we make things better for all Children and Young people in Reading, we have a Children's Trust. This Trust consists of a wide range of organisations involved in providing services for children and young people. Reading Children's Trust has a vision to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families by providing better co-ordinated services and by working better together.

The Trust is currently working on a range of key initiatives that will improve services for children and young people in Reading. These include: 

  • Reviewing how and where services are provided (Locality Working) and provision of Extended Schools and Children’s Centres 
  • Improved information sharing across services for children and young people (CAF, ISA and ContactPoint - formerly known as Information Sharing Index)
