Young Carers
Reading Borough Council runs a Young Carers' Project for young people aged between 6 and 19 who are defined as 'carers'.
This definition is: anyone in the Reading Borough Council area between the ages of 6 and 19 years who provides an inappropriate level of support on a regular basis to an adult who is unable to fulfil personal care tasks or other family roles and responsibilities because of a physical or mental illness, substance or alcohol misuse and/or providing support to siblings who have disabilities and require high levels of support.
Our projects are divided according to age, with a youth club provided for 6-12 year-olds and an 8-week programme aimed at 13-19-year-olds. For further information about either of these, click on the link below.
If you are a young carer, parent of a young carer or a professional in contact with a young carer and would like to get involved in the project, please complete our online referral form, which you will find on the referral page below. For further information, please contact the Young Carers' Project.
