Fostering, Adoption and other Carer's Schemes

This section provides information on the Carer's schemes run by Reading Borough Council.  If you want to do something worthwhile you could make a real difference to the lives of Reading children or vulnerable adults by becoming a carer.  Becoming a carer doesn't have be a long term/full time commitment - we need carers to cater for lots of different circumstances - even if you only have a little time to spare you could make a big difference.

Reading Carers Schemes include: Fostering (providing a temporary home with the care and support children and young people need for the until they can return home), Family Link -(providing regular short term support to families with a disabled child to give them a break and provide new experiences for the child) Supported Lodgings (providing a room and the support a young person needs to help them develop the practical skills and confidence they need as they become independent adults and Adult Placement (providing care and support to vulnerable adults who need help to live independently).

All these schemes pay expenses and some schemes offer additional payments.

Adoption is a way of giving the children who can never go home a better chance in life.  If you have room in your home and your life for a child who needs a new family why not consider adopting a child.
