Free online adult social care learning

You can access free online learning through Log onto Care which offers a wide range of social care e-learning programmes to support staff development.

E-learning allows staff to learn at a pace and time to suit them. View a list of available courses here: https://www.logontocarelearningcentre.org.uk/course/index.php.

Most courses include a short assessment and delegates can print a certificate.

You also have free access (funded by Reading Borough Council) to online assessment tools to support the care certificate and  the full suite of online e-assessments to cover a wide range of social care skills at www.carecertificate.co.uk. (If you are based outside Reading please check if your local authority has funded access).

The easy-to-use recording tools measure and record knowledge and competence. You can add evidence and other supporting information to demonstrate competence, e.g. supervision discussions, observations of practice and feedback from service users.

The assessments enable you to prioritise learning against identified needs to target training where it is needed, saving time and money. You can then access our training programme and/or Log onto Care e-learning to meet identified learning needs.

The word icon Holistic Observation Assessment Tool [321kb] has been produced by Reading Borough Council and available for use by the local private, voluntary and independent sector. The tool lists all Care Certificate standards that require a direct observation. It is designed for use during an observation as a checklist to support managers/supervisors to identify all standards met and to record evidence.
