Your Reading Cleaner Greener Safer
Rescue 2009

What is Rescue?
The Rivers and Environmental Spaces Clean Up Event is a borough wide spring clean coordinated by Reading Borough Council. Volunteers go to work with litter pickers, gloves and rubbish collections provided by the council.
The next RESCUE will take place on the weekend of 14 and 15 of March, with businesses working during the weekdays before the weekend.
The 2008 Rivers and Environmental Spaces Clean Up event was bigger and better than before as more businesses and new community groups joined in the clean up.
Who is Joining In?
In September 2008 the RESCUE steering group will re-launch with new members to help shape the 2009 event. Details of business and community involvement are still to be confirmed but the following are back on the steering group for 2009: Andrew Sansom Photography, Novotel, and Yell with Designation offering to design a new website. The steering group is chaired by environmental charity Groundwork with Connect Reading recruiting businesses for the event.
The practical work on the days is carried out by volunteers from local residents' groups, businesses, environmental groups and individuals.
A Great Event
To summarise the success of RESCUE 2008, a newsletter has been produced. This gives a snap shot of all the groups who worked, where they worked and how they got on. Please see the link at the bottom of the page.
