Bidding is how applicants on the housing register show their interest in an available property. Applicants on the register can bid for up to three advertised properties each two weekly bidding period.
There is no guarantee of getting a property because there are only a limited number available. On average 250 people bid for every house we advertise and 100 people bid for every flat. Bidders with the highest priority are offered properties first. Applicants with a medium or low priority could wait several years and not be short-listed. Some applicants may never be offered a home.
