Housing and Council Tax Benefits Fraud

The Council is keen to make prompt payments of Housing and Council Tax benefit to genuine claimants, but we are equally keen to stamp out benefit fraud. There is a dedicated Anti-Fraud Team that is responsible for detection, investigation & prosecution of fraudulent claims.

People who do not fully disclose all information, as requested, or fail to tell us of changes when they happen will not only have to repay any overpaid benefit but may also face prosecution.
