Special Educational Needs

From time to time many children will have difficulties with certain aspects of learning, requiring extra help with their education. Teachers know and understand this and are in the best position to find out what might be causing the difficulty. If you are concerned that your child may be finding school work particularly hard, it is always best to discuss this with her or his teacher or the Headteacher of the school. This also applies, of course, if a child is unhappy about some aspect of school life, for example of s/he says s/he is being bullied.

Where a child has significant difficulty with learning which lasts over a long period of time, despite the efforts of teachers and parents, s/he may be considered to have special educational needs (SEN). Please scroll down this page for further information about support available in these cases.
