Controlling Sources of Pollution
In Reading we don’t have any large-scale heavy industry, and the Council focuses on smaller scale potentially polluting activities such as car spraying, timber treatment and petrol station deliveries. Around 62% of Reading is designated as ‘smoke control areas’ and there are strict restrictions on the type of fuel which can be burnt.The Clean Air Act 1993 introduced a wide range of new regulations aimed at helping to control smoke emissions.
