Ethical Recruitment Charter

Reading Borough Council are proud to be signatories of the Reading Ethical Recruitment Charter, an initiative developed by Ethical Reading with the following aims:

  • To inspire, encourage and celebrate ethical recruitment practices by Reading employers and recruiters
  • To provide recruitment and best practices guidance to both employers and job applicants
  • To attract talent to our community but also to deter wrongful recruitment practices and wrongdoings

Signatories agree to abide the three pillars of the Reading Ethical Recruitment Charter

The Respect commitment: We respect the law and regulations surrounding recruitment and treat job applicants with respect throughout the recruitment process.

The Transparency commitment: We seek to be transparent in all our dealings with applicants and ensure they have all the information they need to understand our recruitment process decide whether the job and our organisation are right for them.

The Fairness commitment: We treat applicants fairly and courteously, understand their circumstances and provide feed-back to unsuccessful candidates.
