Following the tragic events at Forbury Gardens last weekend, the planned online activities for Armed Forces Day this evening have regrettably been cancelled. We hope to re-schedule these for later in the year and will confirm details as soon as we can.

Join us in marking this year's Armed Forces Day with an exclusive talk and Q&A session celebrating Reading's diverse military heritage delivered digitally directly to your home. With a panel of experts sharing their knowledge and passion for a range of subjects focusing on Berkshire's military past and present. The presentations will be followed by a question and answer session.

The evening will be chaired by the Mayor of Reading, Cllr David Stevens. He will be joined by the following panellists:

  • Chris Forsey (local historian, Reading Chronicle 'Bygones' columnist and photographer),
  • Brigadier (retd) Tony Verey (Berkshire Yeomanry),
  • Captain (retd) Andrew French (Berkshire Yeomanry),
  • Richard Bennett DL (Chair of the Trooper Potts VC Memorial Trust & Chair of Reading Civic Society),
  • Dr Richard Duckett (History and Politics teacher at Leighton Park School, formerly at Reading College. Author of "The Special Operations Executive in Burma)
  • Company Commander from Reading (7 Rifles)
