Carer's grants, discounts and offers


The TuVIDA Carers Hub provides a range of grants to support carers who look after an adult or disabled child.
You can apply for grants towards the cost of: 

  • one piece of essential household equipment that will benefit you in your caring role, e.g. a washing machine
  • a time-out or break from caring such as a holiday, including replacement care while you are away
  • courses, classes or training to assist with your caring role, refresh your skills or retrain for a new career

CarerSmart benefits, discounts and offers

Register with CarerSmart to benefit from a wide range of offers.

CarerSmart is provided by Carers Trust.

Reading Arts and Venues

A person accompanying a wheelchair user will get free admission to events at the Hexagon, Town Hall, and South Street. They can also arrange escorts to give carers a break. For details call 0118 960 6060.


If the person you care for receives a disability benefit or is registered blind they could get a Cinema Exhibitors' Association (CEA) Card for a small charge. The carer accompanying the person will then get a free ticket. 

Your Reading Passport (YRP)

If you are over 60 years old, have a disability or are on a low income you may qualify for bigger discounts and free off-peak use of some sports and leisure facilities.

Apply online or call 0118 937 3787 to request a hard copy. There is also support available at your local library to complete the application form.
