How to Log In to your Self Account with Your New My Reading Account

This is a new service – your feedback will help us to improve it.

We’ve made it easier for you to access services on self.reading.gov.uk by introducing Single Sign-On (SSO) via My Reading Account. Follow these simple steps to link your accounts and enjoy seamless access.

Step 1: Go to self.reading.gov.uk

  • Visit the self.reading.gov.uk website as you normally would.

Step 2: Choose “Login or Register via My Reading Account”

  • On the self.reading.gov.uk homepage, click the “Login or Register via My Reading Account” button.
  • You’ll be redirected to the Arcus My Reading Account login page.

Step 3: Login or Register

  • Existing My Reading Account users: Enter your credentials and log in.
  • New users: Follow the registration steps to create a My Reading Account.

Step 4: Return to self.reading.gov.uk

  • After successfully logging into your My Reading Account, navigate back to self.reading.gov.uk
  • You should now be logged in automatically with your new Single Sign-On credentials.

Troubleshooting Your First Login

During this first-time setup, a one-time “handshaking” process links your accounts. If you find you’re not logged in when you return to self.reading.gov.uk:

  • Click “Login” on self.reading.gov.uk: Use the same “Login or Register via My Reading Account” option to re-establish the connection.
  • Your credentials will now work seamlessly: Once linked, you won’t need to repeat this process again.

Benefits of Single Sign-On

  • Simpler Access: Use one account for multiple council services.
  • Secure & Convenient: One password for better security and ease of use.
