Sheltered housing is independent living. You manage your property with its own front door, kitchen, bathroom and living space, through a Reading Borough Council tenancy agreement.
You get reassurance from access to our 24-hour emergency monitoring centre, via the call system installed in each individual property. If required, you can use our repairs service for essential and non-essential repairs in your property.
You have access to communal areas where regular onsite activities are held. This gives you the opportunity to socialise with your neighbours as much or as little as you would like.
Reading Borough Council offers sheltered housing to people aged 55 and over.
Our officers will have an initial conversation with you when you move in, regular monthly contact and an annual review as standard.
If you require ongoing support to help maintain independence and sustain your tenancy agreement, our dedicated officers will be on hand to support you.
If you have any questions about moving into sheltered housing please do not hesitate to contact us.
