Community facilities reopening

From 12th April, in line with national safety guidelines, we will be re-opening a small number of community sites in Reading and extending the range of use within some buildings that were previously opened.

All the venues will follow strict safety control measures and will initially operate with reduced numbers of visitors. Social distancing measures, one-way systems and additional cleaning regimes will also be in place. Visitors to venues will also need to register with test and trace. Face masks will be required in reception and entrance areas.

The following closed community sites have been earmarked for reopening as part of the first phase of opening:

  • Tilehurst Youth & Community Centre
  • Fairview Youth and Community
  • Sun Street
  • Katesgrove Centre
  • Southcote Community Hub

Groups will now be able to formally hire at these venues:

  • South Reading Community Hub
  • Emmer Green
  • Strathy Close Day Centre

We’ve been in contact with groups and organisations who previously used these venues (and meet the government criteria) to make arrangements where they wish to return.

No party bookings or bookings for large groups events that do not meet the government criteria can be taken until after 21st June 2021 in line with government guidelines. We will be monitoring the use of these buildings closely to ensure the highest level of safety is adhered to.

We will look to extend the facilities and capacity of our venues across Reading in due course following the national guidelines.
