Councillors are elected every four years and make decisions at council or committee meetings.
All elected Councillors, from all the parties, meet six times a year to set the council’s policy and budget framework. You are welcome to attend meetings of Council – you can ask up to three questions. You have to submit your questions at least four clear working days before the meeting (if the meeting is on a Tuesday the question deadline will be 6pm the Tuesday before assuming no bank holidays). You also have to follow the same timescale if you want to submit a petition. Please be aware that there is a time limit at meetings of Council for asking questions and presenting petitions of 30 minutes.
