Highways £9m Colouring Competition

We held a colouring competition to celebrate our Highways £9m project. This project will see the resurfacing of hundreds of residential roads in Reading over three years.

The competition gave everyone whose road was resurfaced in the first phase the chance to show off their artistic skills. Budding artists young and old were encouraged to use the road improvements outside their house as inspiration. The winner will enjoy a free meal for 4 at The Thirsty Bear in King’s Road.

Not only have we had fantastic entries but we were very pleased to see entries from a wide age range – 8 months old all the way up to 39 years old.

The competition has received some great feedback too:

“My son had a lot of fun colouring in the attached picture. Thanks for a few moments of quiet!”

“Great idea – thank you!”

“When I saw there was no limit on age, I decided to go for it! I’ve been shielding for the best part of a year so colouring has been a really good outlet!”

Competition entries are shown in the gallery below. We will be announcing the winner shortly.

The next phase of the Highways £9m project will begin later this year bringing resurfacing improvements to many more roads in Reading.
