About the Community Safety Partnership

Reading’s Community Safety Partnership (CSP) brings together local organisations to help make Reading a safer place. These organisations work together to reduce crime, protect people and support the community.

Who is part of the partnership?

The main members of the CSP are:

  • Reading Borough Council
  • Thames Valley Police (Reading area)
  • The Probation Service (South Central)
  • Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service
  • Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire West Integrated Care System (BOB ICS)
  • Brighter Futures for Children
  • Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust

The CSP also works with other local groups, including:

  • community and voluntary organisations
  • local businesses

These groups may not be on the main board, but they are often invited to meetings and take part in projects.

What the CSP does

By law, Reading’s CSP must:

  • carry out a Partnership Strategic Assessment to understand local crime and safety issues
  • create and deliver a three-year Community Safety Strategy
  • commission domestic homicide reviews when needed
  • listen to and involve the community in its work
  • share information safely and legally between partners
  • help reduce reoffending
  • prevent extremism
  • tackle serious violence, including knife crime
