Renewing your vows

Whether you’re celebrating a special anniversary, marking a significant milestone, or simply wish to reaffirm your commitment to one another, a renewal of vows ceremony offers a meaningful way to celebrate your relationship with family and friends. 

You do not need to live in Reading to arrange a ceremony with us. 

A renewal of vows ceremony is not a legal ceremony and does not alter your legal marital or civil partnership status. However, you will receive a commemorative certificate to mark the occasion and provide a lasting keepsake of your celebration. 

Your ceremony 

Renewal of vows ceremonies are non-religious celebrations and can take place: 

• in one of our ceremony rooms at Reading Register Office
• at any of Reading’s approved venues
• at a venue of your choice, including your own home or garden

An experienced celebrant will work with you to create a personalised ceremony that reflects your relationship and the journey you have shared together. You may choose to include the renewal of your original vows, exchange new promises, personal readings, music and other special touches. 

Couples of any age can renew their marriage or civil partnership vows.
