Chapels

We have two chapels at the Henley Road Crematorium. The South Chapel is the larger and can accommodate 100 people seated. The West Chapel can accommodate 36 seated.

The South Chapel is located at the end of the drive and the West Chapel to the left of the South Chapel. Both chapels are equipped with audio visual facilities allowing the personalisation of the service with selected music and or photographic tributes.

Memorial service

A memorial service may be religious or non-religious and can take place any time after the funeral. It is separate from the funeral and provides a relaxed atmosphere where the departed can be remembered with fond words, music and anecdotes. There is no coffin or casket, however, you may bring the ashes in an urn or suitable container and make them the focus. A memorial service can be the perfect choice if people cannot attend the funeral in person allowing you flexibility in choosing a date when all can attend. Memorial services can be booked direct with the Crematorium (there is no need for a funeral director). Please make arrangements with a Minister of Religion or Celebrant to conduct the Memorial Service. Alternatively, family or friends may wish to say a few words at the service.

Should you wish to arrange a memorial service, please contact us.

Visits to chapels

We welcome visitors to view the chapels but please telephone in advance to book an appointment. We do have services throughout the day but will try our best to accommodate you.

Multi-faith

Both chapels may be adapted for religious ceremonies of differing faiths or can be used as a civil space for non-denominational funerals.

Civil celebrants

A civil celebrant will deliver a celebration of life centred on the person who died. Any music can be played at a civil service; the celebrant can add religious readings and music if required. A period of reflection can be added to the service where a moment for private prayer can be taken.

Humanist service

Humanist services are non-religious and are more focused on life. A humanist service will not include hymns, prayers or anything religious.

Webcasting

Obitus Webcasts allow absent family members and friends the opportunity to be a part of the service, without being physically present. Both of our chapels have the cameras installed to capture the service, this is then streamed live via a secure private link and recorded. Family members can share the secure link and password with whomever they choose.

The service will be available to view ‘on demand’ for up to 28 days after the service has taken place. All streamed services are recorded and available to purchase on DVD, Blu Ray or USB stick after the service has taken place.
