Bank holiday waste collection changes in Reading

With three bank holidays in May, Reading Borough Council is eager to remind residents to expect waste collection date changes during the month and to advise residents when they should look to put their bins out.

Monday 1 May, Monday 8 May and Monday 29 May are all bank holidays, and all will have a knock-on effect as residents’ waste and recycling collections will take place one day later than the normal collection day in each of these weeks. Final collections for each of these weeks will take place on the Saturday to ensure all collections are caught up by the end of the week.

We are confident that our plans will be able to cope with the unusually high number of bank holidays in May, however if your bin has not been picked up on the revised date for any reason, then please do report on the missed bin page.

The full list of changes are detailed below, and residents can check their collection days for those weeks and any others in the next month by visiting the bin calendar page.

The changes apply to all waste and recycling collections including food recycling collections. This also includes garden waste, for which residents are reminded they can sign up to fortnightly collections for less than £1.25 per week by going to the garden waste page, or calling the council on 01189 373787.
