Celebrating the contribution older people make to the Reading community

Reading will be celebrating and highlighting the contribution older people make to the Reading community with a free fun packed event at Broad Street Mall, 10am until 3pm on 30 September 2022.

The aim for the day is to celebrate the achievements and contributions older people make to our society, challenge negative attitudes and outdated stereotypes. More than 30 local organisations including Age UK (Reading and Berkshire), Reading Community Learning Centre, Royal Berkshire Hospital and Firtree – Reading Retirement Centre will all be taking part. Residents are encouraged to connect and reconnect with local services that can support and enhance their lives.  

The Mayor of Reading, Cllr Rachel Eden, will welcome everyone at 10am followed by a wide variety of entertainment including; seated yoga, seated exercise, hand bells, the Dementia Bus, free mini-health checks and hearing tests, and a free tour of the Abbey Ruins 11am – 12pm, booking for the tour is essential please email museum.education@reading.gov.uk.
