Have your say on crime and safety in Reading

The Community Safety Partnership has launched a survey to find out what Reading residents think about crime and safety in Reading. The survey should only take about 5 minutes to complete and will inform and help shape future strategies in the area.

The Community Safety Partnership (CSP) is a partnership between Reading Borough Council, Thames Valley Police, the Probation Service, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service and the NHS. The partnership aims to make Reading a safer place for those who live in, work in, or visit the town and ensure crime and disorder is tackled effectively.

The majority of residents may not have been directly affected by crime but will still have concerns about their own personal safety and the safety of their family and friends. This makes their views an important consideration for the council.

The responses provided in this year’s survey will be compared against last year’s survey responses to help the CSP identify trends and work on plans to address them.

Karen Rowland, Chair – Community Safety Partnership and Lead Councillor for Environmental Services and Community Safety, said:

“Along with our Thames Valley Policing partners, we are delivering a variety of measures aimed at making people feel safer in Reading through a reduction in crime and ASB in our town.

We know we can always do more to improve safety, and to do that we need input from residents to tell us where to focus our resources going forward. Please take five minutes to click on the survey and inform our work so we can keep pushing forward the best initiatives that we are able to action to make Reading a safer place for you.”
