New Civic Centre community garden
A place for the community
With the help of an amazing team of volunteers, the unused land next to the civic centre has been transformed into a flourishing, inclusive space that everyone can enjoy.
More than just a garden
The Civic Centre community garden aims to be much more than a place to grow fresh produce.
It's a shared hub where local residents, community groups and the council’s nursery can connect with nature, learn about healthy eating, develop new skills and care for the environment.
Looking forward, we hope to partner with local businesses for ‘farm-to-fork’ cooking tutorials, offering opportunity to create a demonstration platform for sustainable living.
Growing together
The garden is still evolving, and we’re excited to see it develop over the changing seasons.
We are currently waiting for more soil to complete some of the raised beds. Once these are ready, we would love to welcome the wider community to get involved.
The raised beds are there for everyone to use. Whether you are an experienced gardener or have never grown anything before, you can help plant, nurture and enjoy a range of edible crops – from winter spinach through to next year’s pumpkins.
We don’t want to just grow fruits and vegetables – we want to grow relationships too.
Whether you want to roll up your sleeves and garden, or simply pass through to find a moment of calm, we hope transforming this space will offer a welcoming haven for the entire community.
More information about how to get involved will be available soon.

This project was made possible thanks to funding from the National Lottery Community Fund.
