New cycle hub in town centre gets the green light

We are excited the new cycle hub for Reading, which will boast enclosed bike parking and maintenance facilities, has received the green light to progress. The plans for the hub were approved at Planning Committee last week.

The cycle hub will be run in partnership with Ethical Reading and The Reading Bicycle Kitchen.

The image here shows the design for the front of the cycle hub on West Street in the town centre, at the site of the former Primark Store.

The hub will provide more secure and enclosed town centre cycle parking facilities for up to approximately 82 bicycles, with both experienced and novice cyclists in mind.

There is also the potential for other activities to be run from the hub such as a bicycle loan and/or bicycle donation scheme, by working with local cycle partners to provide these activities.

Reading cycle hub is planned to be open 7 days a week, from 7am to 7pm and will open in the new year.
