Notice is hereby given under Section 87(2) of the Local Government Act 1972 that a casual vacancy has arisen in the office of Councillor for the Caversham Heights Ward in the Borough of Reading.

Requesting a By-Election

An election to fill the vacancy may be requested by two local government electors. Any such request must be made in writing to the Proper Officer no later than 14 days from the date of this notice.

Requests for a by-election to fill this casual vacancy should be submitted to Louise Duffield, Proper Officer, Reading Borough Council, Civic Offices, Bridge Street, Reading, RG1 2LU, or by email to Louise.Duffield@reading.gov.uk.

Holding a By-Election

On receipt of two requests to fill the vacancy, the Returning Officer will set a date for an election to be held within 35 working days.

If no such request is received, the Council will fill the vacancy by co-option.
