Social cycling groups
Cycling UK Reading – this is a friendly and thriving club that offers a wide variety of social rides on and off road. The welcome new riders and have options for different speeds and distances, with regular rides on Wednesdays and Sundays.
Reading Cycling Club – a club for all sporting riders with around 300 members. They offer regular social rides of varying distances and speeds throughout the week, as well as opportunities for racing and touring.
Reading Cycle Campaign – is a voluntary organisation that campaigns for better cycling facilities for cyclists in and around Reading. They organise an informal, leaderless bike ride on the last Friday of every month – Critical Mass – Cycle for Change – amongst other events.
Kidical Mass – organises family-friendly mass bike rides to help build confidence in cycling and advocate for better cycling infrastructure.
Younger and competitive riders
Palmer Park Velo – this is a racing club for children and young people aged 8 to 18, focusing on track, road and cyclocross coaching. It is based at the outdoor velodrome in Palmer Park.
Sprockets Cycle Club – a junior version of Wokingham Cycle Club. This group is run by qualified coaches and is a great follow on from Bikeability sessions.
Cycle hubs Reading
Reading Bike Hub – The hub provides a wide range of services, including a bike library, where people can try bikes before buying, affordable repairs, refurbished bike sales, cycling courses for adults and children, bike parking, and various programmes of workshops and events.
Reading Bike Kitchen is a not-for-profit community project run entirely by volunteers. It provides low-cost bike repairs, bike refurbishing & rehoming, bike donations to local causes and free bike maintenance courses. Its mission is to support the local community by ensuring that cycling is accessible to all.
Reading Avanti Cycling Trust branch – is a community interest company whose aim is to support cycling within minorities . They raise funds to support projects that develop cycling for fitness and personal development within deprived communities. Our main project is to train and develop community leaders who are able to gain access to deprived communities and develop cycling groups to try and maintain young people’s interest and develop their CVs. The trust is busy developing cycling clubs – called Avanti Freewheelers Community Clubs. It runs activities based at the Weller Centre in Caversham and Southcote Community Centre. Other projects will include working with Clinical Commissioning Groups and women’s cycling groups.

Cycling clubs just outside Reading
Maidenhead & District Cycling Club
Located just outside Reading, this club offers rides across Berkshire and is open to Reading-based cyclists. During the summer months they organise social gravel rides that take riders into the wilderness of the Chilterns. These events cater to all levels of ability.
Wokingham Cycling Club (WCC)
Vibrant and inclusive cycling community based in Wokingham, Berkshire. It is open to cyclists from Reading and surrounding areas. Whether you’re into road cycling, gravel, mountain biking, or time trials, WCC offers something for everyone.
Sprockets Cycle Club
A junior version of Wokingham Cycle Club, this group is run by qualified coaches and is a great follow-on from Bikeability.
Bia Cycling
An active and empowering cycling community based near Reading, with a strong focus on supporting women riders of all levels. They offer group rides, workshops, and cycling getaways designed to build confidence and camaraderie.
Trail Break
Pioneering cycling events company specializing in mountain biking and gravel rides. While not headquartered directly in Reading, they frequently organize events in nearby areas such as Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, and Surrey, making them easily accessible for Reading-based riders.

Located in Burghfield Common, this spot is popular for jump-style biking. It’s known for its jump-style terrain and attracts mountain bikers and BMX riders looking for a thrill.
